Non-Renewable Fertilizer Resources

Todays agricultural productivity relies heavily on non renewable resources, and an ever growing global population will continue to put pressure on all resources.  As farmers we are very aware of the efficient use of nutrients and energy in food production as it makes up a significant and increasing portion of our costs.  Our compost project is an example of viewing the use of nutrients as a cycle, with one production area feeding into another.

Thomas Hager is an author that has dedicated much time and effort in exploring the history and future challenges of feeding the world.

The Alchemey of Air is an incredibly thought provoking and compelling story about the history of food production challenges and how solving the immediate threat can have unintended consequences.
